Alma Laprida | Glacier Piece

The glacial phenomenon of singing ice is represented

I wrote this piece inspired by the phenomena of the “singing ice”, the wind and the crackling sounds of glaciers. It is for human voices and tromba marina, an instrument on the verge of extinction. My starting point is to consider glaciers, water, wind and light living things. A glacier is a body of ice that insists on existing. A glacier moves.  A glacier can live for centuries.

I would like to thank Daniel Chernov for his expert advice and Barry Schmetter for his help in digitizing the piece.
